Before her five lead actress wins for Hacks, she won consecutive guest actress Emmys in 2000 and 2001 as Lana Gardner on Frasier, followed by a supporting actress trophy in 2008 for Samantha Who? Her resume also features Emmy nominations for drama and comedy roles in The District, two seasons of 24, Harry's Law, Fargo, Watchmen, and Mare of Easttown. Smart, who starred as Charlene Frazier Stillfield on Designing Women from 1986 to 1991, was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame earlier in 2026.
