
Man shot in leg in Hamburg-Harburg, second gunfire incident near drug center in three days
A 45-year-old man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the leg after shots were fired near a drug counseling facility in Hamburg-Harburg on Monday, triggering a large-scale police search for two suspects.
The shooting
A 45-year-old man was shot in the leg shortly after noon on Monday in the Helmsweg area of Hamburg-Harburg. Passers-by alerted police after hearing gunshots near a drug counseling center called Abrigado. A patrol found the injured man, who was responsive and was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital. Police said his condition is stable.

Police operation
A large contingent of officers, the helicopter "Libelle", and service dogs combed the area. A nearby school was secured, and children were allowed to leave under supervision after consultations with school staff. Most cordons were lifted around 3 p.m., although crime scene investigations continued.
Most of the police measures have been completed. Our investigators are still carrying out crime-scene work.
Suspects
No arrests had been made by mid-afternoon. Police released descriptions of two men seen fleeing the scene: one approximately 1.80 meters tall, stocky build, wearing a blue shirt and white cardigan; the other around 1.70 meters, heavyset, black, with a short beard, short hair, and a blue hoodie.
Repeated gunfire
Last Friday, shots were fired in the same area near the drug counseling facility. Police found cartridge cases at the scene but have not identified any suspects. Residents had reported hearing shots on multiple days beforehand. In early June, a 42-year-old man was seriously injured by gunfire in Buxtehude, near Hamburg; a suspect detained in that case was released for lack of evidence.
