Disciplinary panel seeks dismissal of Jelenia Góra school principal after pupil's death
A disciplinary spokesman has requested the dismissal and a three-year ban for Paweł Domagała, head of Primary School No. 10 in Jelenia Góra, setting a hearing for 3 December 2026 following the fatal stabbing of an 11-year-old pupil.
Disciplinary charges against the principal
A disciplinary spokesman acting for the Lower Silesian voivode has requested the dismissal and a three-year ban from school employment for Paweł Domagała, head of Primary School No. 10 in Jelenia Góra. The formal hearing before the first-instance disciplinary panel is scheduled for 3 December 2026. The action follows the death of 11-year-old student Danusia, who was killed near the school grounds in late 2025. Regional officials noted that the demanded penalty represents one of the harshest disciplinary measures provided under Polish educational statutes. If sanctioned by the first-instance commission, the school director retains the right to file an appeal with the higher disciplinary commission at the Ministry of National Education.
Tomasz Jankowski, press spokesman for the Lower Silesian voivode, detailed the charges brought before the panel.
Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the director of Primary School No. 10 in Jeleniej Góra. The hearing before the disciplinary commission has been set for 3 December. The disciplinary spokesman requested the penalty of dismissal from work and a three-year ban from working in a school.
Homeroom teacher faces inquiry
Disciplinary authorities have also initiated proceedings against the school pedagogue who served as the homeroom teacher of the 12-year-old suspect. The investigation into the teacher is at an earlier stage because of her previous unexcused absence from the school. Following her recent return to work, the deputy disciplinary spokesman for teachers has resumed gathering procedural evidence and coordinating with school administrators. The allegations center on the neglect of official obligations related to homeroom management and student oversight.
Jankowski confirmed that investigators are preparing to interrogate the educator once a formal date is set.
In the case of the teacher, the charges concern, among other things, the violation of duties resulting from the function of a homeroom teacher. At the current stage, activities are ongoing and no decisions have yet been made regarding the further course of the proceedings against the teacher.
Inspection findings and city support
The disciplinary measures follow an audit by the Wrocław Education Board conducted at Primary School No. 10 in January 2026. Educational inspectors reviewed how school rules were established and enforced, examining preventive protocols and responses to documented problematic behavior. The inspection concluded that the school failed to provide a coherent and systemic framework for instilling social norms and responding to student misconduct noted in educational records. Domagała was formally accused of failing to maintain proper supervisory oversight, though municipal officials in Jelenia Góra emphasised that the director had received multiple professional awards during his career.

Circumstances of the 2025 attack
The administrative proceedings follow the killing of 11-year-old Danusia on 15 December 2025 between Wyspiańskiego and Słowackiego streets in Jelenia Góra. Authorities discovered the girl's body with sharp-weapon wounds shortly after classes ended, securing a scout knife believed to have been used in the assault. Police detained a 12-year-old female classmate, with both children registered as pupils at Primary School No. 10. While Danusia's mother previously reported that the girl felt safe at school, the case remains under review in family court alongside the ongoing administrative disciplinary procedures.
