
Three children injured after school bus collides with car on A10 highway near Lisbon
A school bus carrying 53 passengers collided with a car on the A10 motorway near Loures on Thursday afternoon, leaving three young children with minor injuries.
Collision on the A10
A school bus and a light vehicle collided on Thursday afternoon at the junction of the A10 and A9 (CREL) motorways, near Loures in the Lisbon district. The bus was carrying 53 passengers, the majority of them children, according to the Civil Protection authority. The alert was raised at 17:32, and the accident occurred around 17:45 on the exit from the A10 towards the A9 in the direction of Loures. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene.
Injuries and medical response
Three children, aged between 4 and 6, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
They were treated on site and then transported to Hospital Beatriz Ângelo in Loures. A Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Loures Hospital and three ambulances attended the incident. No other injuries were reported among the 53 bus occupants or the car's driver. Initial reports had suggested the number of injured could rise, but it remained at three.The accident resulted in three minor injuries, all children between 4 and 6 years old, who had abrasions.

Traffic disruption
The collision forced the closure of one lane on the A10, causing some disruption to traffic in the area. The Civil Protection confirmed that the lane was later reopened and the situation has since returned to normal. The A10 connects the A9 (CREL) at Bucelas with the A1 at Carregado and the A13/IC3 at Benavente, serving as an important link in the Lisbon region's motorway network.

School bus accidents are relatively rare in Portugal, and this incident, while causing only minor injuries, drew attention due to the number of children on board.
