Mohamed Salah scored twice on his first Turkish Super Lig start to give Trabzonspor a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday. The 34-year-old forward opened the scoring in the eighth minute, pouncing on a loose ball after goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer failed to secure possession before finishing off the inside of the post. Basaksehir responded in the 19th minute through Eldor Shomurodov, who converted a penalty. Salah restored the lead three minutes into the second half, exchanging passes with Ernest Muci to score from 10 yards. Salah received a yellow card for diving in the 79th minute and had two stoppage-time efforts disallowed, including a 45-yard shot into an empty net ruled out for offside and another waived off for a foul in the buildup.

Contract terms and European campaign
Salah joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract at the start of August after nine years at Liverpool, where he scored 257 goals. The deal carries wages of £280,000 per week. Sunday's match marked his third appearance for the Turkish club, following a substitute outing in a 1-1 draw with Kasimpasa. Trabzonspor travel to face Ferencvaros on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League playoff tie, trailing 1-0 from the home leg, before facing Amed SK in the league on 31 August.

In Spain, Real Madrid claimed a 2-1 victory at Espanyol on Saturday under manager Jose Mourinho. Jude Bellingham opened the scoring in the ninth minute from an Arda Guler cross before Alex Calatrava equalised for Espanyol in the 30th minute. Following the draw, Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak addressed the reaction directed at his teammate.
