Romania Forecast Predicts Warmer October with Deficits in Early Rainfall
Romania will experience above-average temperatures and variable precipitation between 5 October and 2 November 2026, according to a four-week outlook released by the National Meteorological Administration.
Four-week meteorological outlook
The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) published its four-week weather forecast on Friday, 2 October 2026, detailing projected temperature and precipitation regimes across Romania from 5 October to 2 November 2026. Numerical models provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) serve as the scientific foundation for these monthly estimates. Throughout the four-week period, thermal values across Romania will remain consistently above seasonal benchmarks in all monitored zones. Precipitation levels will fluctuate from week to week, shifting between widespread nationwide deficits and localized surpluses across various geographical regions.
- Temperatures above normal in most areas with nationwide rainfall deficits
- Above-average warmth concentrated in southwest with rain surplus in south and northwest
- Warmth across western half with near-normal rain and slight western deficit
- Mild conditions nationwide with surplus rainfall in southeastern counties
Warm conditions and nationwide rain deficit in early October
During the initial forecast week, spanning 5 October to 12 October 2026, average temperatures will register above typical norms in most of the country. The most pronounced positive thermal anomalies will concentrate in western Romanian counties. Concurrently, atmospheric moisture will remain limited, creating a generalized rainfall shortage across all regions of Romania during this opening seven-day span.
The meteorological agency noted the projected thermal deviations across Romanian territory for this opening phase.
Average temperatures will be higher than normal for this period in most of the country, with more pronounced positive deviations in the western regions.
The administration also emphasized that the dry conditions during this first week will affect every geographical division without exception.
The rainfall regime will be deficient across the entire country.
Mid-month southwest warming and regional rain distribution
In the second week, running from 12 October to 19 October 2026, mean temperatures will remain higher than seasonal averages across all Romanian regions. The positive thermal departures will become slightly more pronounced in the south-western part of the country.
The weather service pointed to the southwest as the zone with the strongest thermal departure for this period.
Average temperatures will be higher than normal for this period in all regions, with slightly more pronounced positive deviations in the southwest of the country.
Rainfall behavior will change compared to the dry initial week, delivering localized precipitation increases in select territories.
Precipitation amounts will be slightly above normal in southern and north-western regions, and otherwise close to normal for this period.
The subsequent week, covering 19 October to 26 October 2026, will sustain the above-average temperature trend across the entire country. The most significant positive deviations will emerge across the western half of the territory. Precipitation during this third interval will generally align with climatological averages, though western and north-western regions will experience a slight precipitation deficit.
Late October and early November outlook
In the final week of the projection, from 26 October to 2 November 2026, thermal values will stay slightly above the specific norms for late autumn at a national level. Romania will close out the month and transition into November under predominantly mild meteorological conditions across all counties. Rainfall distributions during this closing stretch will show a slight surplus in south-eastern counties, whereas the remainder of the country will record precipitation totals close to normal seasonal levels.
