
Chelsea officially presents Geovany Quenda after €50.8m move from Sporting, signing until 2034
Geovany Quenda has been officially presented as a Chelsea player, signing an eight-year contract until 2034 after a €50.8 million transfer from Sporting CP was agreed in March 2025.
The long-awaited arrival
Geovany Quenda's move to Chelsea was finally made official on Wednesday, more than a year after the London club first struck a deal with Sporting CP. The agreement, reached in March 2025, saw the 19-year-old winger remain on loan at the Lisbon side for the 2025-26 season. Now, he has been presented as a Chelsea player at Stamford Bridge.
Contract and fee details
Chelsea have secured Quenda on an eight-year contract running until June 2034. The transfer fee is reported at around 50.8 million euros, with an additional 1.3 million euros in potential variables. Some outlets put the total package at 52.1 million euros. The deal was part of a double swoop that also brought midfielder Dário Essugo to Stamford Bridge for 22.3 million euros.

Quenda's first words
Speaking to the club's official media, the Portuguese international expressed his delight.
He described himself as a hardworking player who wants to help the team win trophies and be known for his mentality.It's fantastic to be here. Chelsea is a great club and I'm very excited to play at Stamford Bridge. The club has shown faith in players like me and I feel proud to be part of this team.
Advice from compatriots
Quenda revealed that he had spoken with Essugo, who told him that "things in England are not easy" and that the Premier League is a tough competition. He also received advice from fellow Portuguese winger Pedro Neto, who is already at Chelsea. Quenda's father has moved to London with him, and the player said having Portuguese teammates helps with the language and adaptation.
Sporting legacy
Quenda came through Sporting's academy after earlier spells at Damaiense and Benfica. He broke into the first team in 2024-25 and went on to make 86 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and providing 15 assists. His performances marked him out as one of Portugal's brightest young talents.
