FC Porto completes clean sweep of all four national football titles as youth team seals U15 championship
FC Porto clinched the under-15 national championship on Sunday after Sporting Lisbon lost 3-1 to Belenenses, sealing a clean sweep of the senior, under-19, under-17 and under-15 titles in a single season for only the third time in the club's history.
How the title was won
The under-15 side secured the Campeonato Nacional de Iniciados without needing to complete their own match. Sporting, the only rival still in contention, was beaten 3-1 at home by Belenenses, a result that gave Porto an unassailable lead. The young Dragons were leading Alverca 2-1 when the final whistle in Alcochete triggered celebrations.
Historical comparison
The achievement marks the third time FC Porto has swept all four main national titles, a feat the club also accomplished in 1985/86 and 1997/98. No other Portuguese club has ever managed a clean sweep. In a message published on the club's official channels, president André Villas-Boas called the season "absolutely extraordinary in every competitive tier" and said the sweep "brings to mind the triumphs of 1985/86 and 1997/98, historic feats that only FC Porto has achieved in the history of Portuguese football."
- First clean sweep of senior, under-19, under-17 and under-15 titles
- Second clean sweep of all four national levels
- Third clean sweep, including senior, U19, U17, U15, plus women's championship and B-team points record
Youth development turnaround
Villas-Boas used the milestone to highlight a deliberate change in the club's academy approach. He noted that before this season, dating back to 2010/11, Porto had won only six of the 39 national titles available at under-19, under-17 and under-15 levels. That record, he said, makes the current sweep more significant: "It is not just a historic conquest, it is also the confirmation of a shift in direction, in method and in ambition within our development project." He credited the arrival of youth director José Tavares, who returned to the club two years ago, and the work of coaches Sérgio Ferreira, José João and Manuel Prata.
President's reaction
Villas-Boas also praised senior head coach Francesco Farioli for "leading the senior side with method, courage and a demanding style deeply identified with what FC Porto is," adding that "2025/26 will forever be the year of the Dragon, the year of the clean sweep, the year of the most decorated club in Portuguese football."It is an undeniable milestone. An absolutely incredible feat. And above all, it is the confirmation of a truth that makes us deeply proud: FC Porto has once again asserted itself clearly, evidently and dominantly in every arena of Portuguese football, from senior to youth.
Broader club success
The senior women's team contributed to the exceptional season by winning their own national championship and securing promotion to the Primeira Liga. The B team matched the club's points record from its previous title-winning campaign, rounding out a season in which every competitive tier delivered silverware or record performances.
