The fixture
Marítimo host FC Porto at the Estádio dos Barreiros in Funchal on Saturday 10 October, in the eighth round of the Liga Portugal Betclic, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 Portugal time. FC Porto arrive as sole leaders of the table after winning all seven of their league matches so far this season. Francesco Farioli coaches the visitors, while Mitchell van der Gaag is in charge of Marítimo, who are looking to use home advantage to take points against the favourites. Sport TV 1 holds the broadcast rights for the match, and fans can also follow it on the Sport TV digital platform with a compatible subscription on a computer, mobile phone or tablet. Referee João Gonçalves is in charge, with assistants Pedro Ribeiro and Miguel Martins, fourth official Diogo Araújo, VAR Tiago Martins and AVAR André Campos.
Form and standings
Marítimo sit 11th with eight points, according to SAPO, and have taken all three possible results at home, beating Casa Pia, drawing with Académico de Viseu and losing 1-3 to Benfica. SAPO says that defeat was far more balanced than the final score suggests. FC Porto's last league round on 20 September was a 3-1 home win over Benfica, who were reduced to 10 players early on, according to TSF Rádio Notícias. Marítimo are back in the top flight after several seasons away, and staying up is one of the club's stated priorities this season.

Coaches and team news
Asked about FC Porto's unbeaten start, Van der Gaag said:
It is always a goal of my team, but on the other side, we also know that FC Porto is strong, is the current champion here in Portugal and has not yet dropped a single point in the league, so it is also a team with a lot of quality and very consistent in what it does, both against big teams but also against teams with different objectives.
He also said most of his squad were promoted last season because they wanted to play in the Primeira Liga and in these matches, and that such games help the players develop. Farioli has named Diogo Costa in goal and Inbeom Hwang, the South Korea international, in the starting line-up, while Gabri Veiga starts on the bench. Van der Gaag made two changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Gil Vicente in Barcelos, bringing in Tomás Tavares and Ibrahim Alani for Rodrigo Andrade and Danilovic.
