The median monthly gross wage in Poland's national economy stood at 7,695.00 PLN in April 2026, according to data released by Statistics Poland (GUS). This median level was 20.3% lower than the average monthly gross wage of 9,651.59 PLN recorded during the same period. Month-on-month, the median gross salary increased by 2.2% in nominal terms compared to March 2026, representing a 6.0% rise compared to April 2025. In contrast, the average gross monthly wage contracted by 0.5% month-on-month from March 2026, while showing a 5.5% expansion year-on-year.
Income distribution metrics for April 2026 show that the lowest-earning 10% of workers, designated as the first decile, received gross wages of 4,806.00 PLN or less. At the upper end of the scale, the top-earning 10% in the ninth decile earned at least 14,926.00 PLN gross per month. The structural gap of roughly 2,000 PLN between the median and average reflects the influence of high executive salaries, which lift arithmetic averages above the middle baseline.

Gender disparities across sectors
Statistics Poland recorded measurable pay discrepancies between male and female workers in both median and average calculations. The median monthly wage for men reached 7,877.52 PLN (102.4% of the overall median), compared to 7,545.48 PLN for women (98.1% of the total), creating a gap of 332.04 PLN in favour of men. In average earnings, male employees received 10,075.14 PLN, while female workers received 9,218.90 PLN gross per month. Among the top 10% of earners, men earned at least 15,820.00 PLN, whereas top-earning women received at least 14,144.02 PLN.

The financial and insurance activities section posted the highest average compensation across all industries in April 2026 at 17,202.48 PLN gross. This sector also exhibited the widest gender wage disparity, with male earnings exceeding female earnings by 48.9%. Conversely, female workers earned higher average wages than male colleagues in six distinct industry sections. The largest female wage advantage appeared in the construction sector, where women earned on average 19.2% more than men.
Enterprise size and regional distribution
Workplace scale remained a decisive determinant of wage levels across the national economy in April 2026. Microenterprises employing nine or fewer individuals recorded median earnings pegged to the national minimum wage of 4,806.00 PLN. In contrast, large enterprises employing 1,000 or more people reported median gross salaries of 9,098.87 PLN. Statistics Poland detailed this divergence in its monthly statistical summary:
Taking into account the size of the entity, the highest median earnings were recorded, as in previous periods, in entities with 1,000 or more employed persons at 9,098.87 PLN (118.2% of the total value), and the lowest in entities with 9 or fewer employed persons at the level of the minimum wage, that is 4,806.00 PLN (62.5% of the total value).
Geographic analysis revealed substantial differences at the municipal level across Poland. In the municipality of Podkowa Leśna near Warsaw, the average gross monthly wage exceeded 20,000 PLN in April, reaching 20,574.50 PLN. That figure was triple the average earnings recorded in municipalities such as Kozłów in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship, Adamówka in Podkarpackie, or Łęka Opatowska in Wielkopolskie. In Jerzmanowa in Lower Silesia, more than half of all residents earned at least 10,000 PLN gross per month.
