Nübel set for Besiktas move as Bayern contract talks go to the wire
Bayern Munich and Besiktas have reached an agreement for goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, but the deal hinges on a contract termination settlement that must be resolved by tonight.
Transfer agreement
Bayern Munich and Besiktas Istanbul have agreed terms for the transfer of German goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, according to multiple reports on 6 July 2026. The 29-year-old is expected to sign a contract until summer 2029 after completing a medical examination. Nübel, who joined Bayern on a free transfer from Schalke 04 in 2020, has been told by the club not to report for pre-season training on 20 July.
Financial details
Reports differ on the transfer fee. Sky Sport and ZEIT ONLINE cite a fixed sum of €6.5 million plus €5 million in potential bonuses, while Blick.ch reports €5 million fixed plus €5 million in bonuses, for a total of up to €10 million. Bayern had initially hoped for up to €20 million. The club will also save on Nübel's salary, which Blick.ch says could reach €12 million annually including bonuses.
Nübel's Bayern chapter
Nübel made only four competitive appearances for Bayern during his six years at the club. He spent the 2021–2023 seasons on loan at AS Monaco and the last three campaigns at VfB Stuttgart. Under head coach Vincent Kompany, he had no role in the first-team plans. Besiktas has guaranteed him the starting goalkeeper position.
Pending obstacles
Despite the agreement, the transfer is not yet finalised. N-tv reports that Nübel and Bayern are still negotiating a severance package to terminate his existing contract. If the issue is not resolved by the evening of 6 July, the deal could collapse, according to Sky information cited by N-tv.
