Mitsotakis reviews seven years in power, says 9 in 10 2023 pledges are implemented
In a Sunday social media post, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave a comprehensive review of his government's record from 2019 to the present. He stated that 9 in 10 pre-election pledges from 2023 have either been fulfilled or are on track, framing the progress as part of a decade-long effort to transform Greece by 2030.
Seven-year record under review
In his Sunday post, Mitsotakis noted that three years have passed since the renewal of public trust in 2023 and, in a few days, seven years since Greeks first entrusted him with governance in 2019. He stressed that he daily tries to honor that mandate, acknowledging that expectations are high. He said the country has made undeniable progress in many policy fields.
I know that citizens' expectations and demands are high and that we do not always succeed in meeting them. However, since 2019 our country has recorded undeniable progress in many policy fields.
He chose to share a measurable and documented account of that progress, replacing the weekly review.
Implementation and trust
The prime minister argued that citizens look forward rather than backward, but consistency in converting commitments into results that daily improve lives is what builds trust. He claimed this is the government's biggest comparative advantage, with 9 in 10 2023 pledges fulfilled or underway.
Nine out of ten pre-election pledges from 2023 have already become reality or are on track to implementation. And this is the best indicator of reliability.
Opposition critique
Mitsotakis aimed a criticism at the opposition, saying it denies every progress and flattens every collective achievement. In contrast, he said his government chooses comparison over conflict.
Facing an opposition that chooses to deny every progress and to flatten every collective achievement of the country, we choose comparison instead of conflict.
Decade-long vision
He positioned the whole effort within a ten-year transformation aiming at 2030, the bicentennial of the modern Greek state, insisting that the effort is measured by tangible results, not slogans.
We are in the middle of a decade-long effort to change the country, with a horizon of 2030, the milestone of 200 years since the formation of the modern Greek state. An effort that is not measured by slogans but by tangible results.
