Legia Warszawa beat Jagiellonia 3–1 to stay undefeated and claim second place
Goals from Rafał Augustyniak and Paweł Wszołek helped Marek Papszun's side secure a 3–1 away victory in Białystok, preserving Legia's unbeaten league record.
Early defensive errors give Legia the lead
Legia Warszawa defeated Jagiellonia Białystok 3–1 away from home in the ninth round of the Ekstraklasa season. Legia entered the fixture as the only team in the division without a loss, while Jagiellonia sought to extend a six-match unbeaten run against the Warsaw club. The opening fifteen minutes remained balanced until a defensive miscommunication between Jagiellonia defender Apostolos Konstantopoulos and goalkeeper Sławomir Abramowicz opened space for Paweł Wszołek. Abramowicz fouled Wszołek inside the penalty area, prompting referee Karol Arys to award a penalty. Rafał Augustyniak converted the spot-kick in the 15th minute to record his fourth league goal of the campaign. Five minutes later, Legia doubled the lead when Wszołek crossed from the left wing after a corner kick. Zoran Arsenić headed the ball into the danger zone, where forward Nik Prelec deflected it into his own net in the 20th minute.
Jagiellonia responds before half-time
Trailing 0–2 at home, Jagiellonia mounted an immediate response under manager Adrian Siemieniec. In the 35th minute, referee Arys awarded a penalty to the hosts after Legia goalkeeper Otto Hindrich committed a foul in the box. Jesús Imaz converted the penalty to cut the deficit to 1–2 before the interval. Jagiellonia had an opportunity to level the score shortly after when Guilherme Montoia set up Imaz, but the Spanish forward was unable to hit the target. Legia also created a late first-half chance when Wszołek chased a loose ball inside the penalty area, though Abramowicz and his defensive line cleared the danger before the break.
Second-half saves and Wszołek's decider
Jagiellonia continued to push for an equalizer throughout the second half, with Imaz testing Hindrich again in the 65th minute, only for the Legia goalkeeper to parry the shot away. Legia capitalized on Jagiellonia's missed opportunities ten minutes later. Following a long throw-in by Augustyniak in the 75th minute, the Jagiellonia defense failed to clear the ball, allowing Wszołek to strike and score his first goal of the season. Jagiellonia appeared to earn a lifeline when referee Arys pointed to the penalty spot for a third time following an incident involving Jeremy Agbonifo. However, after consulting the video assistant referee (VAR) monitor, Arys overturned the call and revoked the penalty.

Ekstraklasa standings and form
The 3–1 result moves Marek Papszun's side to second place in the Ekstraklasa standings, preserving Legia's status as the sole undefeated club in the league. The win also ended Jagiellonia's six-match unbeaten run in head-to-head fixtures against the capital side. Despite Legia's recent exit from the Polish Cup at the hands of Motor Lublin, their domestic league form remains consistent. In contrast, Jagiellonia has registered just one victory across their last four Ekstraklasa matches, following a productive start to their domestic campaign.
