Tom Kim ends 1,001-day drought with bogey-free 64 at Genesis Scottish Open
South Korean Tom Kim carded a final-round 64 to claim the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club on Sunday, his first PGA Tour victory in 1,001 days. Scotland's Bob MacIntyre, the 2024 champion, finished tied third after a difficult final round.
Kim's drought ends
Tom Kim shot a flawless 7-under 64 on Sunday, no bogeys, to finish at 17 under par at the Genesis Scottish Open. It was his first PGA Tour win since October 2023, ending a 1,001-day stretch without a victory. The 24-year-old South Korean had plummeted outside the world top 150 last month but rebounded with a solo third at the U.S. Open and now a Rolex Series title.
It's really special. I'm at a loss for words.
He became the fifth non-US player to reach four PGA Tour wins before turning 25, joining Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Hideki Matsuyama. The triumph also guarantees him a place at the 2027 Masters.
Sunday marathon
The final day was compressed by a fog delay on Saturday. Sea fog, known as haar, suspended play at 8 p.m. local time, leaving Kim with only seven holes completed in his third round. Players resumed at 7 a.m. Sunday, and Kim finished his third round with a 68 before catching fire in the afternoon. He birdied three of his first nine holes, then added another trio on the back nine.

- Kim birdies three front-nine holes to move into contention.
- 206-yard approach to 6 feet yields birdie, two-shot lead.
- Kim wins at 17 under, first title in 1,001 days.
A 206-yard iron to 6 feet on the par-4 16th set up a crucial birdie that gave him a two-shot cushion. Kim never dropped a shot, matching the day's best score.
MacIntyre stumbles after bright start
Bob MacIntyre, the 2024 champion and home favourite, shared the 54-hole lead with Matt Fitzpatrick and Min Woo Lee. He birdied the par-5 first hole to roars from the gallery but then suffered two three-putt bogeys in the next three holes.
I'll be blatantly honest, brutal. Terrible start. … Too many mistakes, far too many mistakes.
An eagle at the 12th and birdies on 14 and 17 helped salvage a 69, leaving him tied third at 13 under. He still felt optimistic heading to The Open at Royal Birkdale, telling reporters there was "no reason why I can't compete" next week.
McIlroy's rally and Open qualifiers
Rory McIlroy surged up the leaderboard with five birdies in his first seven holes, posting a 64 to tie for seventh at 12 under. PGA Tour rookie Johnny Keefer, Michael Thorbjornsen and Victor Perez all secured spots at next week's Open Championship via their finishes. Min Woo Lee's 15-under-par total earned solo second, two shots behind Kim.

Road to Birkdale
The Scottish Open served as the final tune-up before The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale, starting Thursday. MacIntyre's game, despite Sunday's frustration, appears in good shape; his fourth top-ten finish of the PGA Tour season includes a win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Kim will enter the year's final major with renewed confidence as a Rolex Series winner.
