One report calls it the first win in Kalamata's history over PAOK and the first ever inside Toumba. NewsIT wrote that the defeat cost PAOK the chance to go top of the table, while iefimerida noted that a PAOK win would have put them level with Panathinaikos at the top. Penalty and equaliser before the break
Kalamata were the first to create danger, with Diarra forcing a save from Tsiftsis in the 8th minute. Vargas won a penalty in the 26th minute after a challenge by Serif Ediagé in the box, and he converted it himself to make it 0-1. Ediagé equalised in the 44th minute after a move involving Pelkas and Kaloutsikidis that was checked by VAR. One report criticised referee Katsikogiannis for allowing the goal and said the VAR official, Koumbarakis, had missed the incident. PAOK pushed forward after the Kalamata goal, and the score was 1-1 at half time.
Second half and red card
Kalamata regained the lead in the 56th minute when Vargas finished a counterattack with a low shot from inside the area. Vargas then ran into space again, and Tsiftsis came off his line and kicked him outside the box. VAR was consulted, and Tsiftsis was shown a red card in the 62nd minute, leaving PAOK with 10 players. Hamza hit the post shortly afterwards, and in the 66th minute Alonso ran through after a pass from Vargas and found Kourminovski, who scored into an empty net for 1-3.
