Spain's Imserso will open registration for its 2026-2027 subsidised travel programme on 22 June, offering nearly 880,000 places for pensioners with travel set to begin in October.
Announcement
On Saturday, the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the call for the Imserso 2026-2027 tourism programme, opening registration for nearly 880,000 subsidised trips for Spanish pensioners. The Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (Imserso), part of the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, will maintain the same total number of places as the previous season.
Registration and eligibility
New applicants can submit their details from 22 June to 10 July 2026, via the Imserso electronic headquarters or by mailing a printed form to a dedicated post-office box in Madrid. Existing beneficiaries need not re-register unless they wish to change personal data, destination preferences or links to a companion in the same province. Those already in the system will receive renewal letters at home during the same window.

Booking timeline

Commercial sales are scheduled to launch in September, allowing trips to begin in October. The staggered rollout aims to cover the autumn-to-spring period, supporting year-round tourism employment.
Social role
The programme, which also reserves 7,447 places at a flat rate of 50 euros for pensioners on the lowest incomes, continues to allow travellers to bring pets on coastal holidays.
the ministry said, adding that it has a positive impact on promoting an active and social life among older people. This programme has become a fundamental tool for alleviating seasonality in the tourism sector, avoiding the loss of many jobs during the low season,
