
Greece sees temperature rise to 36°C with afternoon mountain storms and evening rain in the north
Mostly clear skies and a slight temperature increase are forecast for Greece on Wednesday, with the mercury reaching 36°C locally on the mainland before evening thunderstorms arrive in Macedonia and Thrace.
Today's forecast
Greece will experience generally clear weather on Wednesday, 8 July, with only temporary clouds developing over the mainland during the midday and afternoon hours. The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) reports that these clouds will produce local showers or isolated thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous areas.
Afternoon showers
In the afternoon, the mainland regions (including Attica, Thessaly, Epirus, and the Peloponnese) will see brief cloudiness and a chance of local rain in the mountains. The Ionian Islands and western mainland will have northwesterly winds of 3 to 5 Beaufort, while the Aegean will see northerlies reaching 6 Beaufort locally.

Temperatures and winds
Temperatures will rise slightly on the mainland, reaching 33 to 35°C and locally 36°C. The islands will see highs of 31 to 33°C, with Crete up to 32°C and the Dodecanese up to 33°C. Winds will blow from northerly directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, touching 6 Beaufort in the Aegean.
