Warsaw Stock Exchange September equity turnover climbs 57.5% to 59.4 billion PLN
Main Market equity turnover in Warsaw reached 59.4 billion PLN in September 2026 as the WIG index reached 157,384.98 points, while exchange-traded products doubled year on year.
Main market equity turnover and index gains
Equities trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange Main Market reached 59.4 billion PLN in order book turnover during September 2026, representing a 57.5% increase compared with the 37.7 billion PLN recorded in September 2025. The broad-market WIG index closed September at 157,384.98 points, advancing 48.0% year on year and 34.2% since the start of 2026. This trend followed August 2026, when the WIG20 blue-chip benchmark crossed the 4,000-point threshold for the first time since 2007. By the end of September, the total capitalization of 383 domestic companies listed on the Main Market stood at 1.459 trillion PLN. Combined capitalization for all 402 domestic and international listings reached 3.047 trillion PLN. Meanwhile, the NewConnect alternative market recorded a 35.4% year-on-year contraction in equity turnover to 178.7 million PLN, while the GlobalConnect market generated 24.4 million PLN in turnover.

Growth in exchange-traded instruments and crypto debuts
Investor activity across exchange-traded funds (ETFs), exchange-traded notes (ETNs), and exchange-traded commodities (ETCs) expanded during the month. Aggregate turnover in ETFs, ETNs, and ETCs rose 99.9% year on year to 531.8 million PLN in September 2026, bringing cumulative trading since the beginning of 2026 to 5.1 billion PLN (a 132% increase year on year). Turnover in structured products also expanded, climbing 14.9% over September 2025 to 286.3 million PLN. The exchange expanded its exchange-traded product offering during September with two new ETN instruments issued by Swedish provider Virtune. On 3 September, Virtune introduced an ETN tracking the Chainlink cryptocurrency, marking its seventh ETN on the Warsaw trading floor. A second product tracking the Hyperliquid cryptocurrency began trading on 17 September, expanding Virtune's Warsaw roster to eight fully asset-backed digital asset instruments.

Fixed income expansion and mixed derivatives activity
The fixed-income segment on the Catalyst market posted expansion in both secondary turnover and listing balances. Order book turnover on Catalyst climbed 111.8% year on year to 934.9 million PLN in September 2026. The total value of non-treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst reached 172.5 billion PLN by month-end. New debt market activity included the debut of residential developer Matexi Polska Holding & Finance, which listed bond series worth 105 million PLN to fund ongoing corporate expansion. In contrast, total derivatives volume contracted 10.7% year on year to 1.5 million contracts. Activity within the segment diverged, as index futures volume grew 23.4% to 814 thousand contracts, while single-stock futures volume climbed 127.2% to 337.2 thousand contracts.
Electricity and natural gas trading on TGE
Commodity markets operated by the Towarowa Giełda Energii energy exchange experienced contrasting volume trajectories in September 2026. Total electricity trading across spot and forward markets rose 49.4% year on year to 15.6 TWh. Spot electricity volume reached 4.6 TWh (a 21.4% year-on-year increase), while forward electricity contract volume climbed 65.4% to 11.0 TWh. Total natural gas turnover fell 34.6% year on year to 8.2 TWh across spot and term markets. Spot gas trading expanded 74.8% to 2.7 TWh, whereas forward gas trading dropped 50.2% compared with September 2025 to 5.5 TWh.
