Warsaw Stock Exchange to launch proprietary GPW WATS system on 5 October
The Warsaw Stock Exchange is scheduled to activate GPW WATS, its first in-house trading system, on Monday, 5 October 2026, replacing the UTP platform used since 2013.
The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) is scheduled to launch GPW WATS on Monday, 5 October 2026. The new system is the first trading platform developed entirely in-house by the Polish bourse. Migration work began following the close of trading on Friday, 2 October 2026, when the previous UTP system, in operation since April 2013, was taken offline to transfer data, configurations, and participant connections over the weekend.
GPW WATS will manage order receipt, order book organization, buyer-seller matching, pricing calculations, and transaction data dissemination. The rollout requires alignment across brokerage houses, market makers, data distributors, market surveillance, settlement infrastructure, and international trading participants. Across its 35-year history, GPW previously utilized an IBM AS/400 platform, introduced continuous trading via brokerage terminals in 1995, adopted WARSET in 2000, and moved to UTP in 2013.
