Górnik Zabrze, league leaders, face Jagiellonia Białystok on Saturday with Siemieniec sidelined
Kickoff is at 20:15 at Chorten Arena in Białystok, the first league match after the international break. Jagiellonia's coach Adrian Siemieniec will not be on the bench, and Michal Gasparik has begun preliminary talks on extending his contract with Górnik.
A visit without the coach
Jagiellonia Białystok host Górnik Zabrze on Saturday, 10 October, with kickoff at 20:15 at Chorten Arena. It is the first league match after the international break for both sides. Adrian Siemieniec will not lead Jagiellonia from the touchline in the next six league matches, following an affair over unauthorized contacts with referees, and he will not be on the bench on Saturday. Siemieniec responded to the ruling of the League Commission in these words:
I accept with humility the decision of the League Commission, I will not turn back time.
Mikołaj Łuczak, his closest assistant, is set to be listed as the first coach on the match sheet. Siemieniec said the staff will divide the duties between them, and that he will still try to help the team from a different perspective. He described the situation as new for him, since he has never been in one like it.
Jagiellonia's form
September was a poor month for Jagiellonia, which lost two league matches and one European match. During the international break the team played two friendlies, beating Lithuanian side Sudova Mariampol 5:0 and losing 1:2 to first-division Polonia Warsaw. Nik Prelec and Yuki Kobayashi, both recently injured, played in the Polonia match and should be available to the coach. Captain Taras Romańczuk will probably miss the game. In the standings Jagiellonia are 10th with 12 points from eight matches.
Górnik's position
Górnik Zabrze are the surprise of the season and top the PKO Ekstraklasa with 22 points from nine matches, three points ahead of Legia Warszawa on 19. They have lost only once this season, to GKS Katowice, conceding two goals in stoppage time. Last season Górnik beat Jagiellonia twice, which Gazeta Współczesna says gives them a chance for revenge. Górnik won the Polish Cup and finished runners-up in Gasparik's first season in charge, which began in June 2025.

Gasparik's contract
Michal Gasparik signed a two-year contract when he joined, so it expires when this season ends. Speaking to Dziennik Zachodni, he confirmed that preliminary talks on an extension have taken place:
We have had the first preliminary talks about extending the contract.
He said he would like to stay. Gasparik has also received inquiries from the United Arab Emirates and an offer from an Ekstraklasa club, but he said Górnik remains his priority:
For me Górnik is number one.
In September he also said his contract contains no buyout clause. Fans have floated him as a candidate for the Polish national team, and when asked about it he called the idea unrealistic and said he is coaching Górnik for now. Cezary Kulesza has said the future of Jan Urban as national coach will be discussed with Urban in November, after the Nations League.
