League leaders Górnik Zabrze missed a chance to extend their advantage at the top of the Ekstraklasa table following a 0-0 draw away to Motor Lublin.
Woodwork denies early Górnik dominance
Ekstraklasa leaders Górnik Zabrze controlled the opening quarter of an hour against Motor Lublin before a crowd of 10,427 spectators. Michal Gasparik's side created two clear scoring chances within seconds between the ninth and tenth minutes. Malthe Hojholt struck the post with a low drive from distance in the ninth minute, beating goalkeeper Gasper Tratnik. Moments later, winger Maksym Chlan ran onto a through ball and attempted a chipped finish over Tratnik from inside the penalty area, with the ball bouncing off the crossbar. Motor central defender Bartosz Bereszyński lost individual duels in both sequences before recovering his positioning as the first half progressed.
First-half balance and tactical adjustments
Motor Lublin stabilized the match after the 17th minute through the offensive involvement of right-back Kamil Lukoszek, who is currently on loan from Górnik. Ivo Rodrigues registered Motor's first attempt on target in the 16th minute, followed by a 29th-minute volley from Mbaye Jacques N'Diaye, but goalkeeper Philipp Schulze gathered both efforts without difficulty. The home side was forced into an early substitution when Rodrigues suffered a shoulder injury and left the pitch for Mateusz Łęgowski in the 34th minute. Górnik missed another opportunity just before the interval when Yacine Bourhane lost possession, allowing Kacper Urbański to loft a pass to Chlan, who volleyed wide.

Disjointed second half and late penalty review
Neither manager made alterations at half-time, and the pace of play dropped considerably following the restart amid frequent fouls and midfield collisions. Motor squandered a chance in the 49th minute when Karol Czubak released N'Diaye on a two-on-one counterattack, but the winger misplaced his cross. Chlan tested Tratnik again in the 62nd minute before both coaches turned to their benches. Mariusz Misiura introduced Rony Lopes and Fabio Ronaldo, while Gasparik brought on Erik Prekop, Paulo Bernardo, Lukas Sadilek, Yvan Ikia Dimi, and Zeidane Inoussa. Tension rose in the 80th minute when match officials reviewed a penalty claim for Górnik in the box, though referee Paweł Malec ruled against awarding the spot kick. In the 89th minute, Tratnik parried a low strike from Ondrej Zmrzly to keep the scores level.

The goalless result leaves Górnik Zabrze at the top of the Ekstraklasa table, having dropped points for only the second time in the league campaign after earlier qualifying setbacks in European competition. Motor Lublin halted a three-game losing run, moving onto seven points and climbing to 16th place in the table. Both clubs now enter the international match window, with Motor scheduled to return to domestic league fixtures on 12 October.
