Nottingham Forest appoint Oliver Glasner as head coach, replacing Vitor Pereira
The Austrian, who led Crystal Palace to FA Cup and Conference League glory, becomes the club's fifth head coach in less than a year.
The appointment
Nottingham Forest have confirmed Oliver Glasner as their new head coach. The 51-year-old Austrian succeeds Vitor Pereira, who departed earlier this week. Glasner is the fifth person to hold the role in under twelve months, underlining the club's recent instability in the dugout.
I'm delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach. From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust and belief in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term.
Glasner's pedigree
Glasner arrives with a formidable CV. At Crystal Palace he delivered the club's first major silverware, the 2025 FA Cup, followed by the Community Shield and, in May, the Conference League trophy. Before that, he guided Eintracht Frankfurt to the 2021-22 Europa League, their first European honour in over four decades. His Palace contract expired at the end of last season; he had announced in January that he would not renew.
Nottingham Forest is a club with incredible prestige and history, a two-time European Champion with one of the most passionate fan bases in football.
Pereira's exit
Pereira's departure was abrupt. The BBC reports he was sacked on Tuesday, while the Guardian says he was informed by email just before midnight on Wednesday. Forest triggered a mutual break clause in his contract, and a club statement thanked him for securing Premier League survival and reaching the Europa League semi-finals.
We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Vítor and his team for their hard work and commitment throughout their time at the club.
What comes next
Glasner's first competitive match will be at home to Leeds on 22 August. Off the pitch, Forest are bracing for Elliot Anderson's £116m move to Manchester City and are targeting Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall as a replacement, though they face competition from other clubs.
