A heavy convective storm system swept across Spain's eastern Mediterranean coastline on Saturday, 19 September 2026, causing localized flash flooding and widespread travel disruption. The municipality of Xàbia recorded 81.8 litres per square metre, with severe concentrations measured at the local port. In Ondara, total rainfall reached 68.4 litres per square metre, while the town of Dénia registered 64.8 litres per square metre across urban gauges. The inland municipality of Pedreguer recorded 47.2 litres per square metre as the localized storm cells moved inland. Meteorological alerts and emergency response

Maximum temperatures climbed across most regions, particularly in Galicia, the Cantabrian coastline, and the upper Ebro basin, with northern thermometers forecast to reach 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday. In contrast, minimum temperatures dropped along the Cantabrian strip, the middle Ebro, and the Pyrenees, where weak frosts remained possible on high mountain summits. Nighttime temperatures in the lower Guadalquivir valley and along the southern Mediterranean coast stayed warm, registering tropical night conditions before the broader transition to dry weather.
