
Small plane crashes on approach to Warsaw airport, killing both on board
A light aircraft crashed and burst into flames near Babice airport in Warsaw's Bemowo district on Thursday afternoon, killing both occupants and injuring a bystander on a driving range.

At around 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, a light aircraft went down during its approach to Warsaw's Babice airport. The plane, en route from Wrocław, failed to reach the runway and crashed into a driving school maneuvering yard near ul. Powstańców Śląskich 127 in the Bemowo district. On impact, the aircraft erupted in flames, sending a plume of black smoke visible across the area.
Two dead on board
Authorities confirmed that both people aboard the plane died at the scene. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed. One person on the maneuvering yard, a bystander, sustained injuries but was treated by paramedics and is not in life-threatening condition. Initial reports varied: some early dispatches mentioned one fatality, but subsequent updates from fire and police officials settled on two.
Fire and rescue operations
The Warsaw Municipal Fire Brigade dispatched four to five units to the crash site. Crews fought the fire using two foam streams and quickly extinguished the burning wreckage.

Police sealed off the area as officers and prosecutors began examining the circumstances.
