24-year-old driver dies after police chase ends in tree crash in Piła county
The man fled a traffic stop for not wearing a seatbelt, drove dangerously through several villages, and lost control on a straight stretch, hitting a tree. Resuscitation efforts by officers and paramedics failed.
The traffic stop
Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, officers from the Wysoka police station in Piła county spotted a Ford driver not wearing a seatbelt. They activated lights and sirens to pull him over. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated and fled.
The chase
The 24-year-old drove dangerously through the villages of Czajcze, Bądecz, and Tłukomy, heading toward Łobżenica. According to police, he repeatedly exceeded the speed limit, overtook in no-passing zones, and forced other motorists onto the shoulder.

The crash

Rescue efforts
Police officers immediately began first aid, entering the car through the rear doors and starting CPR. Firefighters and a medical rescue team arrived shortly after.
The force of the impact was so great that the driver was trapped in the vehicle. Police officers entered through the rear doors and began resuscitation. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the officers and paramedics, the 24-year-old's life could not be saved.
Unfortunately, the arriving Medical Rescue Team pronounced the 24-year-old driver dead.
Investigation
The road was closed for over four hours while emergency services worked. The District Prosecutor's Office in Złotów is supervising the police investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash.
