Collision on A13 highway in Tomar leaves one dead and another seriously injured
A two-car crash on Portugal's A13 near Santa Cita killed one person and critically injured another on Saturday afternoon, shutting northbound lanes at kilometer 128.
A collision between two light vehicles on the A13 highway near the locality of Santa Cita, in Tomar, left one person dead and another seriously injured on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services received the alert through the 112 line at 13:13, reporting an accident at kilometer 128 of the Autoestrada do Pinhal Interior.
First responders from the Tomar and Vila Nova da Barquinha fire departments arrived at the scene and located two severely injured victims. One individual was declared dead on site, while the other was stabilized and transported to a hospital.
The crash forced the closure of both lanes in the south-to-north direction along the highway stretch. The National Republican Guard's specialized traffic accident investigation unit, NICAVE, was called to the scene to conduct technical inquiries into the incident.
