
Fatal head-on crash on B199 near Rabel kills 58-year-old woman, injures two others
A 58-year-old woman died and two people were injured in a head-on collision on the B199 federal road near Rabel in Schleswig-Flensburg on Monday evening, police said.
The collision
On Monday evening, a 58-year-old woman driving on the B199 near Rabel in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg crossed into oncoming traffic for reasons still unclear. Her vehicle collided head-on with another car driven by a 36-year-old woman. The impact sent the second car into a roadside ditch.
Casualties
The 58-year-old driver was fatally injured. Her 37-year-old son, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The 36-year-old driver of the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries and required hospital treatment.
Investigation and road closure
Police closed the B199 for more than three hours to investigate and clear the scene. The cause of the crash remains undetermined.
