Actress Désirée Nosbusch sustained a broken arm while training on an ice rink in Los Angeles as part of preparations for an upcoming film role. The 61-year-old performer decided to learn and practice skating ahead of the production schedule so that valuable shooting time would not be lost to basic lessons on set. The training session took place during the peak of summer, with outdoor temperatures in the California city reaching 40 degrees Celsius. The sudden change between the outdoor heat and the indoor ice rink formed the backdrop for the training exercise.

The fall occurred moments after Nosbusch entered the rink. She confirmed that she had not attempted any athletic maneuvers, pirouettes, or complex technical figures. Instead, she encountered another skater who was also having difficulty maintaining balance on the ice. In an effort to dodge the approaching woman and avoid a collision, Nosbusch lost her footing and fell onto the hard surface, suffering an elbow fracture that required immediate medical treatment.

Nosbusch recounted the details of the mishap during an appearance on the German television program NDR Talk Show, which is produced in Hamburg. During the broadcast, the actress discussed the injury openly while reflecting on the unexpected accident that disrupted her preparations for the film project. She explained that she had hoped to share an elaborate story about the injury, but noted that the incident was simply an ordinary fall caused by the evasive maneuver.

I just wanted to get onto the ice and a lady was coming towards me who was also not completely steady on the ice, and I wanted to dodge her.

Medical care following the fall confirmed an elbow fracture. Nosbusch reported that the injury is healing steadily and that her physical condition has improved since the accident occurred. She indicated that she is on the road to recovery and continues to look forward to the upcoming premiere of her recent work.

Nosbusch was born in Luxembourg and divides her time between residences in Berlin and Luxembourg.
