Current conditions and yellow warning
Widespread rain fell across Ireland on Thursday, with the heaviest concentrated in Munster. Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry, effective from 9pm Thursday until noon Friday. The forecaster said spells of heavy rain could cause spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions. Thursday’s highest temperatures reached 16 to 21 degrees.

Friday’s wet spell
Friday begins wet nationwide, with rain clearing eastwards through late morning and afternoon but lingering in the east. Showers will follow from the west, some heavy. Highs will range from 16 to 20 degrees. Overnight, outbreaks of showery rain clear to the east and north, with lows of 9 to 12 degrees.
Weekend split
Saturday is the best day for outdoor plans: largely dry, with bright or sunny spells and only the chance of an odd light shower. Temperatures will be 15 to 19 degrees. Sunday turns cloudier, with rain and drizzle mainly hitting western coastal counties while the east stays drier and brighter. Highs climb to 18 to 22 degrees, warmest in the south.
Sunday will be somewhat cloudier. But there will be an introduction of warmer air, between 18 and 22 degrees. We will be set for warm days early next week, but in the meantime it is a wet day ahead with outbreaks of rain in all areas.
Next week’s outlook
Monday continues wet and warm, with showers or longer spells of rain extending eastwards; temperatures could reach 23 degrees. Tuesday brings cooler, brighter conditions with sunny spells and scattered showers mainly over the northern half of the country, highs of 15 to 19 degrees. Current indications suggest unsettled weather will persist through the latter half of next week, with rain or showers and temperatures in the mid to high teens. Met Éireann noted there is more uncertainty than usual in the extended outlook.
