Alert and response
An industrial fire broke out on Sunday evening in a warehouse in the São Francisco neighbourhood of Camarate, in the municipality of Loures. The first alert reached emergency services at 20:44, according to the Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil (ANEPC). By 21:25 the blaze was already under control, a source from the Lisbon regional fire command told the Lusa news agency.

The Comando Sub-regional de Emergência e Proteção Civil da Grande Lisboa later told Notícias ao Minuto that the fire had been dominated and that, although there were houses near the warehouse, there had been no need to evacuate any property.

Location and what burned
The warehouse sits in an industrial zone in Camarate’s São Francisco district, though one outlet, SIC Notícias, described the location as the São João neighbourhood of Sacavém, also part of Loures, and noted its proximity to a supermarket. Flames were visible from the neighbouring town of Odivelas, according to the Observador. The fire consumed pallets and vehicles stored inside the structure, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighting effort and containment
Bombeiros Voluntários locais, supported by the ANEPC, tackled the flames from the start. The quick containment – roughly 40 minutes after the alert – limited damage to the warehouse interior. Despite the intensity, emergency crews managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to surrounding buildings. Firefighters remained on site into the evening to monitor the situation and ensure no flare-ups.
Aftermath and safety
No casualties were recorded, and the incident did not disrupt the wider area beyond the immediate industrial zone. The response underscored the efficiency of the local civil protection apparatus. Authorities continued to assess the scene in the hours following containment, but no further escalation was anticipated.
