Man's body recovered from waters at Piraeus port near Gate E2
A man's body was pulled from the sea by a Greek coast guard patrol boat inside the port of Piraeus on Saturday evening. The remains were taken to Nikaia General Hospital as authorities investigate the circumstances.
Discovery and recovery
A man's body was spotted in the sea near Gate E2, inside the port of Piraeus, on the evening of Saturday 20 June 2026. A patrol boat from the Hellenic Coast Guard pulled the remains from the water. The body was then taken over by an ambulance of the National Emergency Aid Service (EKAB) and driven to the General Hospital of Nikaia.
Investigation underway
The Piraeus port authority has opened a preliminary inquiry into the incident. Officials are working to determine the cause and the exact circumstances of the death. No further details about the identity of the man have been released.
