What happened
A white vehicle sped into a crowd attending the Christopher Street Day (CSD) Pride celebration in Berlin's Tiergarten park at around 22:00 on Saturday 25 July. The car struck multiple people on Lennéstraße, a road bordering the park, before the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, according to witnesses cited by Bild. The incident occurred near the final stretch of the parade route on Straße des 17. Juni, close to the Brandenburg Gate.
Casualties and emergency response
Berlin fire and rescue services treated patients at the scene. Police confirmed at least one person died and 14 others were injured. The injured were being attended by emergency crews in the park, a city spokesman said on social media. Authorities had deployed 2,200 officers for the event and immediately redirected personnel to the site.
