Beret's tour collapses after sexual assault arrest: at least half of 14 concerts canceled
Spanish singer Beret, detained over a sexual assault allegation in Seville, has seen multiple festival and municipal bookings scrapped, leaving the Menorca event as the last pending date under review.
Arrest and allegation
Francisco Javier Álvarez Beret, the Seville-born singer known as Beret, was arrested earlier this week after a woman reported a sexual assault in Seville in April 2026. He was released with precautionary measures while the investigation continues. The arrest became public on Thursday, triggering a cascade of cancellations across his summer tour schedule.
Festival cancellations
Two major Galician festivals promptly dropped the artist. Recorda Fest in A Coruña and BIGSOUND, which had booked him for dates in Pontevedra and Barakaldo, both announced the cancellations on Friday.
In light of the information published in recent hours, we have decided to cancel Beret's performance at our festival.
After evaluating the current circumstances, the organisation has decided to cancel Beret's scheduled performance at BIGSOUND Pontevedra and BIGSOUND Barakaldo.
Both promoters are working to find replacements.
Municipalities react
Municipal councils across Spain also moved to remove Beret from their local fiesta line-ups. The list includes Elche (Alicante), Rubí (Barcelona), Armilla (Granada) and Monforte de Lemos in Lugo, where the mayor, José Tomé, was already facing his own sexual assault allegation. That particular cancellation came before the broader wave of withdrawals.
Menorca holds the line, for now
The last active date on Beret's calendar is a 21 August concert in Maó, Menorca, as part of the Ukalari Menorca Live festival. Organiser Ukalari Events issued a statement acknowledging the situation and saying it was examining "todas las opciones posibles" to ensure the festival's smooth running while respecting the judicial process.

Any change to the programming would be announced officially through the usual channels, the company added.
Tour decimated
Beret's 'Lo bello y lo roto' tour had 14 dates left across Spain, according to his website, which had not yet removed the cancelled shows. With the flurry of cancellations, at least half of the remaining concerts have fallen through. No concerts remain scheduled in Galicia this summer, and the artist's itinerary is rapidly shrinking as more promoters reassess.
