Electrical fire in halodarium forces evacuation of 895 at Wrocław Aquapark, facility reopens with 50% discount
Nearly 900 guests and staff were evacuated from Wrocław's main water park on Saturday after an electrical short caused heavy smoke. The facility reopened in phases through the afternoon, offering a half-price entry as an apology.
What happened
A short circuit in an electrical furnace inside the halodarium, the salt-grotto area of Aquapark Wrocław at ul. Borowska 99, produced thick smoke that spread through the indoor recreation zone on Saturday morning, 27 June 2026. The smoke forced an immediate evacuation shortly before 10:00. Guests in swimwear were moved outside, where rescuers distributed thermal blankets. Initial reports spoke of a fire in the sauna, but the facility later confirmed the cause was an electrical fault in the halodarium furnace.
Due to an electrical short in the halodarium furnace, in the covered leisure part of Aquapark Wrocław at Borowska Street, and the appearance of smoke, we were forced to evacuate the facility.

Seven fire brigades, police and ambulance crews were deployed to the site. According to the Wrocław Municipal Crisis Management Centre, 895 people were evacuated, including 55 staff members. The figure was later confirmed by the Wrocław fire service, which initially reported 840 visitors and 55 employees. The facility's own employees removed the immediate threat before fire crews arrived to ventilate the building and secure the area.
