Death and announcement
Jan Frycz, one of Poland's most distinguished stage and screen actors, died on 15 August 2026 at his family home, surrounded by his closest relatives. He was 72 years old. He also performed in plays by Jan Englert ("Kordian," "Juliusz Cezar," "Iwanow"), Jerzy Jarocki ("Grzebanie," "Miłość na Krymie," "Tango"), and Mikołaj Grabowski ("Kwartet dla czterech aktorów"). Younger audiences knew him as the gangster Dario in the television series "Ślepnąc od świateł." Teatr Narodowy's farewell
The National Theatre's statement described Frycz as a central figure in the ensemble.
Przede wszystkim jednak będzie nam go brakować jako pięknego człowieka.
Frycz's father was a mining engineer and rescue worker who worked in Silesia, a connection reflected in the actor's casting in the Silesian-set series "Blisko, coraz bliżej." The funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
