Romania publishes national exam results early as 79% of eighth graders pass, seven achieve perfect 10
Initial results for Romania's 2026 National Evaluation were published on June 30, a day ahead of schedule. Of 143,251 test-takers, 79% achieved an average of at least 5, and seven pupils earned a perfect 10.
Results published a day early
Romania's Ministry of Education and Research posted the initial scores for the 2026 National Evaluation on Tuesday, 30 June, at 17:00. The publication came one day earlier than planned, after the minister requested an accelerated release wherever the centralisation process allowed. Results were made available in anonymised form on the official platform evaluare.edu.ro and on physical notice boards at examination centres.
A total of 143,251 eighth-grade graduates sat the exam, out of 148,268 registered candidates, yielding a participation rate of 96.6%. Of those, 113,192 pupils (79%) obtained an average of 5 or above, the minimum threshold for admission to upper-secondary education. Seven candidates finished with a perfect average of 10.
Eight pupils were disqualified for fraud or attempted fraud; their scripts were marked with a 1, in line with the examination regulations. All results were published using individual candidate codes to comply with personal-data protection rules.

Appeals and final marks
Candidates dissatisfied with their results can view their marked scripts and lodge appeals. The first window opens on 1 July between 14:00 and 18:00, continuing on 2 and 3 July. Viewing the paper is not a prerequisite for filing an appeal. A different marking panel re-evaluates contested scripts; the resulting mark may rise, fall, or remain unchanged, and the re-evaluation outcome is final.
All appeals will be processed between 4 and 7 July. The final results of the 2026 National Evaluation are scheduled for publication on 8 July.
