Owners of pellet-heated homes are facing drastic price increases, which in some regions of the country have reached 3000 zloty per tonne. Despite alarming signals of fuel shortages at depots, the Ministry of Climate and Environment assures that the situation is not due to a restriction of raw material supply from the State Forests. The Ministry points to a combination of weather factors and increased domestic demand as the main causes of market turbulence.

The situation on the Polish biomass market became extremely tense in February 2026. Consumers who did not secure supplies before winter are facing prices of around 2000-2500 zł per tonne, and in extreme cases even 3000 zł. This is an increase of about 40 to 80 percent compared to the autumn stabilization, when the raw material cost an average of 1300-1400 zł. Experts from the portal samorządowy portal note that some recipients are opting for imports from Germany, where local prices may be more competitive. Wood pellet gained popularity in Poland in the last decade as an ecological alternative to coal, supported by programs such as „Czyste Powietrze” (Clean Air), which led to the mass replacement of boilers with biomass-powered devices.
