Since 12 Oct
Actor Selma Blair was arrested at JFK after a Delta flight from Los Angeles and faces two second-degree assault charges in Queens, to which she pleaded not guilty; a federal summons covers the in-flight allegations.
Port Authority police detained Selma Blair at John F. Kennedy International Airport late on 11 October after flight attendants on Delta Flight 938 from Los Angeles reported a physically abusive passenger. Two flight attendants were reportedly injured, and Blair was taken to hospital for evaluation.
In Queens she is charged with two counts of second-degree assault: kicking a police officer during transport to the hospital and a nurse after arrival. She pleaded not guilty on 12 October. A judge set bail at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond, and she was released.
A federal summons has been issued over the alleged assaults aboard the aircraft, and a report of 14 October says the case is expected to proceed in federal court in Brooklyn. Blair is due back in the Queens court on 19 January 2027, and the test is whether federal prosecutors in Brooklyn file a formal charge.
