The White House launched a continuous 24-hour video channel titled "Trump TV: The Essentials Station" on 21 September at 19:00 local time (23:00 GMT). Available through the official White House YouTube channel and the administration's mobile application, the feed began with archival material rather than live events. The inaugural broadcast showed a speech delivered by Donald Trump on 3 July at Mount Rushmore during commemorations for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Subsequent programming included his 2025 inauguration address, a May 2025 speech at the West Point military academy, an address from the World Economic Forum in Davos eight months earlier, and a June 2026 military parade address. Kaelan Dorr, Deputy Assistant to the President, presented the channel on social media platform X.

The press, in some cases, has reported inaccurately or not reported at all on the numerous record successes of the Administration for the benefit of all Americans.

Press pool boycott and legal challenge

The channel launch followed a confrontation between the executive branch and traditional news organisations that began on Friday, 18 September. The administration revoked the press credentials of reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, barring them from White House grounds the following day on accusations of publishing negative coverage and fabricated reports. In response, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico filed a federal lawsuit in Washington on 21 September, alleging that the ban violates First Amendment press freedom protections. The television network pool, which rotates coverage among ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC to supply broadcast feeds to domestic and international outlets, refused to substitute for CNN when its scheduled filming rotation arrived. ABC, CBS, Fox News, and NBC halted joint pool coverage on Monday in solidarity.

Content and administration response

Because of the network pool boycott, several presidential events on 21 September went unbroadcast on traditional television networks, including the opening of a new helicopter landing pad at the White House. The administration defended the exclusion of the three outlets, asserting in a public statement that White House access is a privilege rather than a constitutional right. In remarks on Monday, Donald Trump referred to the excluded outlets as third-rate clowns and accused them of jeopardising national security through unsourced reporting. He stated on Truth Social that the administration intends to appeal any adverse judicial findings. The dispute unfolded as Trump travelled to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly high-level general debate.

Court proceedings and external reactions

The lawsuit filed by CNN, MS NOW, and Politico was assigned to US District Judge Timothy Kelly, who previously presided over a 2018 press credential case involving CNN correspondent Jim Acosta during Trump's first presidential term. An initial court hearing on the emergency suspension request is scheduled for Wednesday, 23 September, at 15:30 in Washington. Media commentators criticized the launch of the dedicated streaming service. Philip Lewis, deputy editor of HuffPost, described the initiative as a state propaganda network established following the exclusion of independent news outlets. The White House indicated that restrictions could expand to other news organisations if it deems their coverage inaccurate.
