
Romanian racer Adrian Rus-Sinner dies in Brno crash; second rider also killed, event cancelled
The accident at the start of a Superbike race during the Alpe Adria International Championship also claimed the life of another racer; organisers scrapped all remaining sessions.
Accident at the start
Two riders died after a serious collision at the start of a Superbike class race during the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship at the Brno circuit, Czech Republic, on Saturday, 11 July. Medical teams responded immediately, but one racer was pronounced dead at the scene. The second rider was taken to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries, according to the Romanian Motorcycling Federation (FRM). The exact cause of the crash has not been disclosed.
With deep sadness, we inform you that during Saturday’s competition schedule of the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship, held at the Brno circuit, a serious accident occurred at the start of one of the Superbike class races, involving two athletes.
Identity confirmed
The FRM later confirmed that one of the deceased is the Romanian racer and vlogger Adrian Rus-Sinner.
Unfortunately, one of the two athletes who left us today is Adrian Rus - Sinner.
The federation announced the fatality in a statement on Saturday evening. Rus-Sinner was competing in the championship when the crash happened, though no further details about his racing career have been released by organisers at this stage.
Event cancelled
Following the tragedy, organisers took the immediate decision to cancel the rest of the weekend’s competitive programme.
As a result of this tragic event, the organisers decided to cancel the entire remaining competition programme this weekend.
The round at Brno was to continue through Sunday; all sessions are now abandoned. No additional races or activities will be held, and the circuit has been closed to fans.
Condolences and next steps
Several motorsport bodies issued joint condolences, including the European Motorcycling Federation (FIM Europe), the Alpe Adria Motorcycle Union, the championship promoter AAcademy, the Romanian Motorcycling Federation, the Balkan Motorcycling Union, and Autodrom Brno. They extended sympathies to the families, friends, and loved ones of both riders.
Out of respect for the grieving families, no further information will be provided at this time.
No statement has been made public about the second rider’s identity, and organisers have not indicated when, or if, the championship will resume racing.
