Trump Warns Iran: 1,000 Missiles Ready, Ultimatum on Strait of Hormuz Expires Saturday
The US president posts on Truth Social that 1,000 missiles are locked on Iran, with thousands more to follow, while Washington demands Tehran publicly open the Strait of Hormuz by Saturday.
Trump's direct threat on social media
On Friday, July 10, Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that 1,000 missiles are aimed at Iran, with thousands more to follow immediately if Iran attempts to assassinate the sitting US president.
1,000 missiles are ready for launch and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow immediately, if the Iranian government acts on its threat, made in many corners of the globe, to assassinate or attempt to assassinate the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!
In the same post, Trump said orders have already been given and the US military stands ready, willing, and able to "decimate and completely destroy all regions of Iran" for a period of one year, subject to extension.
Orders have already been given, and the US military is ready, willing, and able, for a period of one year, subject to extension, to decimate and completely destroy all regions of Iran -- GLORY TO ALLAH!
The Saturday deadline over Hormuz
Three US officials, briefing reporters, said Washington has set a Saturday deadline for Iran to publicly acknowledge the Strait of Hormuz as open and to commit to stopping attacks on merchant vessels. The message has been delivered directly to Tehran and through regional intermediaries.
We want them to publicly state that they will stop shooting at ships and to explicitly, or at least implicitly, admit they made a mistake. That is what we are pushing for now.
Another official stressed the consequences of refusal: "If this is not their position [today], it won't be a good day for them." The US insists Iran has violated a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties three weeks ago, carrying out repeated attacks on commercial ships in and near the strait.
We expect the Iranians to state that all passages in the strait will be open and that transit will be free.
Escalating tit-for-tat
The attacks have triggered multiple exchanges of fire and brought the fragile truce close to collapse. The United States has already launched two rounds of strikes against Iran in retaliation for the Hormuz attacks. Thursday saw further hostilities, though details remain limited. The waterway carries roughly 20% of global oil trade, making its disruption a direct threat to world energy markets.
What comes next
The Saturday deadline leaves little time for diplomacy. With the US military postured for a one-year campaign and 1,000 missiles already targeted, the White House has made clear that the ultimatum is not open-ended. Iran has not publicly responded as of Saturday morning.
