Hoffenheim's Bazoumana Touré completes record €50m transfer to Newcastle United
Bazoumana Touré, the 20-year-old Ivorian winger, has left Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim for Premier League club Newcastle United in a transfer reported to be worth around €50 million, a record sale for the German club.
The transfer
Bazoumana Touré has completed a move from TSG Hoffenheim to Newcastle United, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Sunday. The 20-year-old Ivorian winger, under contract until 2029, had his deal dissolved to facilitate the transfer. Newcastle paid a record fee for Hoffenheim, reported by Sky and Kicker to be around €50 million. The sum was freely negotiable as Touré did not have a release clause, according to dpa.
Player profile
Touré is regarded as one of the fastest attackers in the Bundesliga. Last season he scored five goals and provided twelve assists, performances that drew international attention. He was part of Ivory Coast's World Cup squad. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe sees significant development potential in the young winger.
Hoffenheim's record sale
The departure marks the highest transfer fee ever received by Hoffenheim. Sporting director Andreas Schicker had previously signaled that Touré was a candidate for sale. The club did not disclose the exact amount, but the reported €50 million surpasses any previous outgoing transfer.
