16-year-old learner motorcyclist dies after sliding under truck on rain-soaked A24 near Neuruppin
A 16-year-old riding a driving-school motorcycle lost control on wet pavement Monday and was fatally struck by a lorry between the Herzsprung and Neuruppin-Süd junctions.
What happened
A 16-year-old learner motorcyclist died Monday afternoon on the A24 motorway near Neuruppin, Brandenburg, after falling from her machine on rain-soaked asphalt and sliding under a heavy goods vehicle. Police were alerted at 13:50 and the carriageway toward Berlin remained closed into the afternoon. The teenager sustained fatal injuries at the scene, a police spokesperson confirmed.
She suffered fatal injuries.
The crash occurred between the Herzsprung and Neuruppin-Süd interchanges. The driving instructor was following in a car with a second learner in the passenger seat. Both the instructor and that passenger, along with the lorry driver, were treated for shock and taken to hospital.
Second fatality in days

Road conditions and response
Police cited a wet road surface as a factor in the learner's fall. The motorway was shut in the Berlin-bound direction from the time of the alert at 13:50 until the afternoon, while emergency services worked at the scene and investigators began documenting the crash site.
Those involved
The deceased was on a driving-school motorcycle. The instructor and the second pupil, who were in the following car, were described by a spokesperson for the Walsleben motorway police as being in shock. The lorry driver was also taken to hospital for medical care. None of the three survivors' injuries were described as life-threatening in the initial police statements.
The two were in shock, as was the lorry driver, and were taken to hospital.
