Severe weather delays Liga F Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid to 19:00 CEST
Torrential rain across Catalonia has prompted Liga F to delay Sunday's match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou from 17:00 to 19:00 CEST.
Weather emergency forces kickoff delay
The first Liga F clash of the 2026/27 season between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid takes place at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, 4 October 2026. Kickoff was originally scheduled for 17:00 CEST, but organizers pushed the start back by two hours to 19:00 CEST due to torrential rain across Catalonia. The decision followed emergency civil protection orders issued by Generalitat President Salvador Illa, who warned of a Mediterranean mini-hurricane. Regional authorities restricted mobility from 20:00 on Saturday until 15:00 on Sunday across Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Osona, and Moianès, halting public events, urban parks, and railway lines. Barcelona submitted a formal rescheduling request on Saturday afternoon to ensure safe travel for spectators, which Liga F approved without objection from Real Madrid.
- Catalan civil protection mobility restrictions take effect
- Weather alert period scheduled to end
- Government travel restrictions expire across coastal comarcas
- Original scheduled kickoff time at Spotify Camp Nou
- Rescheduled kickoff time approved by Liga F
Stadium conditions and security protocols
Because ongoing renovation work leaves Spotify Camp Nou without a finished roof until the middle of the 2027/28 season, all general stands and directors' boxes remain completely exposed to rain. Club administrators reminded ticket holders that security protocols permit only small, folding umbrellas inside the venue, while long and rigid umbrellas are banned at stadium gates. Barcelona canceled all weekend training sessions, youth sporting events, and cultural gatherings across club facilities during the storm alert. Barcelona manager Pere Romeu addressed the adverse conditions ahead of the match.
It hurts me, because it is surely more pleasant to watch a match with sun and a bit more calm. But on the other hand, I would like to try to motivate everyone, because the rain makes for very frenetic, very energetic matches. And I think that gives you a point of excitement that can be interesting. I hope people can come to support us.
Title race and recent head-to-head form
Barcelona lead the Liga F standings with 15 points after winning all five opening matches, alongside Champions League group stage victories of 5-2 and 6-0. Real Madrid hold second place with 13 points, having registered four victories and one draw in five league rounds. During the 2025/26 campaign, Barcelona won every meeting between the two clubs, scoring 18 goals and conceding two across four clashes in the Copa de la Reina, Champions League, and league fixtures, in addition to a 2-0 Supercopa final victory. Real Madrid's last victory in the fixture was a 3-1 league win in March 2025.

Squad updates and lineup selections
Defender Martina Fernández, who returned to Barcelona for the 2026/27 season after joining Everton in January 2025, is set to make her first Clásico appearance at Camp Nou. The 22-year-old center-back has logged the most minutes of any player in Romeu's squad this season. Barcelona adjust to roster changes following the departures of Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, Ona Batlle, and Salma Paralluelo, while midfielder Aitana Bonmatí returns to availability following recovery from an ankle injury. Fernández assessed Madrid's summer recruitment prior to the encounter.
This summer they have done very good work with their signings. I think they are at their best level. It will be a nice match.
The match will be televised throughout Spain on DAZN under the Liga F Moeve broadcast package, with free-to-air coverage in Catalonia on regional channel TV3.
