Spain hits peak summer heat with 42°C in Pamplona and storms forecast in the east
Temperatures across Spain exceeded 40°C on 13 August, reaching 42°C in Pamplona and 41°C in Zaragoza and Lleida, as AEMET maintained yellow and orange heat warnings across most of the country.
Spain experienced a day of extreme heat on 13 August, with temperatures easily exceeding 40°C across large areas of the country. Pamplona reached 42°C, while Zaragoza and Lleida hit 41°C. From the early hours of the morning, minimum temperatures remained very high, ranging between 26°C and 28°C in cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Almería, and Palma.
While sunny skies predominated on the western and southern facades of the peninsula, intense storms and showers were expected in the afternoon across the eastern peninsula, particularly in the Béticas, the Ibérico, and the Pyrenees, triggering yellow warnings. AEMET, the state meteorological agency, maintained active yellow and orange warnings for high temperatures across most of the national territory.
