AEMET forecasts showers for Madrid on Tuesday, temperatures to climb across Spain by weekend
Spain's state meteorological agency AEMET predicts possible showers and thunderstorms in the Madrid region on Tuesday, while most other areas will see clear or partly cloudy skies. Temperatures are expected to rise steadily through the week, approaching 40°C in some inland cities by Sunday.
Tuesday's outlook
AEMET forecasts a mix of conditions across Spain on Tuesday, 16 June. In the Madrid community, skies will start partly cloudy with convective cloud building in the afternoon, bringing a chance of showers and storms, particularly in the Sierra highlands and the eastern half of the region. Maximum temperatures will range between 31 and 34°C, with lows of 15 to 17°C. Light variable winds will prevail, shifting to a southerly component by the afternoon.

A Coruña will begin very cloudy but clear by evening; temperatures will reach 22°C with a mild 16°C low. Along the Mediterranean coast, Benidorm expects clear skies and a high of 27°C, feeling like 28°C, while Sabadell in Catalonia will be clear to partly cloudy with a high of 34°C.
Central and southern cities will also see varied conditions. Cuenca will have partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of afternoon storms, a high of 30°C and a low of 15°C.
