Guardia Civil arrests six motorcyclists after 25-bike group does wheelies and blocks the A-7 near Valencia

Spanish police detained six people, two of them minors, after a group of about 25 motorcycles rode dangerously on the A-7, prompting a chase that left an officer lightly injured.

Emergency calls and highway chaos

On Saturday evening around 18:00, the 112 emergency line received multiple calls from drivers reporting a group of roughly 25 motorcycles, most without license plates, riding recklessly on the A-7 near Torrent. The riders were doing wheelies ("caballitos") and deliberately holding up other traffic, creating what authorities described as a grave risk of road accidents.

Intercept and officer struck

The Guardia Civil’s traffic operations centre quickly coordinated a response with Valencia’s traffic management centre. Patrols intercepted the group on the CV-35 at L’Eliana at about 18:20. When ordered to stop, the riders ignored commands and one member of the group charged at the officers. A lieutenant was hit and sustained minor injuries, and a patrol car was damaged to the point of being taken out of service. One young man, a French national, was arrested on the spot.

Search and arrests at industrial estate

With support from the Valencia command, a wider search led police to an industrial estate in Lliria. There, they caught several riders trying to load the motorcycles into a van to flee. Five more people were detained, including a 16-year-old minor. Separately, a patrol stopped a 12-year-old boy who was also part of the group and riding a motorcycle; he was handed over to his parents.

Legal charges

Investigators are processing charges for reckless driving, creating a serious danger to traffic, driving under the influence of drugs, and forming a criminal group. The most severe penalties could bring prison terms of six months to two years and driving bans of one to six years.
