
Police car struck by Moldovan-driven coach during traffic stop in 2 Mai, Romania
A police car stopped with emergency lights on was rear-ended by a coach on DN 39 early Sunday, lightly injuring two officers and an 18-year-old woman.
What happened
Around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday, a police car was stopped on the right side of DN 39 in the village of 2 Mai, Constanța county, with its emergency lights activated. The officers were conducting a check on a motorcycle. A coach traveling from Mangalia toward Vama Veche, driven by a 45-year-old Moldovan citizen, collided with the rear of the stationary police vehicle. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
Injuries and response
Both police officers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. An 18-year-old woman who was standing near the stationary vehicles was also hurt. All three were described as lightly injured. The drivers of both vehicles were tested for alcohol, and the results were negative.
Investigation
The Constanța County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) has opened a criminal case. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances and causes of the accident. No further details have been released.
