Polish pet of the year voting opens for dogs, cats, and all animal companions
Readers of Nowiny can now vote for the Pupil Roku 2026 across multiple pet categories, with winners to be featured in a special photo album and newspaper supplement.
A nationwide poll has opened inviting Polish pet owners to submit their animals for the Pupil Roku (Pet of the Year) 2026 competition. Organizers note that over 13.5 million dogs and cats live in Polish households, placing the country among Europe's most pet-friendly nations; nearly every second home has a dog and over 40 percent keep a cat.
Voting will take place separately in each city and county, with categories also recognizing veterinarians, groomers, pet shops, and animal behaviorists or trainers at the regional level. Selected photographs will appear in a newspaper supplement and a published album titled "Nasze Pupile" (Our Pets), while winning owners receive cash prizes and spa trips.
