PKP Cargo management board resigns after Warsaw court strips operational control
The entire management board of Polish rail freight carrier PKP Cargo stepped down on 1 October 2026 after a Warsaw court revoked their authority to manage the restructuring company, transferring operational control to a sanation administrator.
Warsaw court revokes executive management authority
The District Court for the Capital City of Warsaw issued a formal court order on 29 September 2026 regarding the corporate governance of Polish rail freight carrier PKP Cargo. The court order revoked the authorization previously granted to the company's executive board to exercise self-management over the entirety of its enterprise. Under restructuring law, this judicial decision took immediate legal effect and became fully enforceable from the exact moment of its issuance. Prior to this ruling, the management board of PKP Cargo in restructuring maintained the legal right to perform ordinary management, enabling executives to take routine operational decisions required to run the railway enterprise. Following the court's decree, the incumbent board members lost all authority to execute regular day-to-day management over the business.
Management board members tender joint resignations
Following the court's decision to strip their operational mandate, all three members of the PKP Cargo management board decided to vacate their posts. Management board president Zbigniew Prus and fellow executive board members Michał Łotoszyński and Paweł Miłek submitted formal resignation statements to the company's supervisory board on 1 October 2026. The resignations of all three board members were specified to take legal effect upon the expiration of 1 October 2026. The rail freight operator announced the departures in a formal regulatory disclosure submitted to the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Thursday, 1 October 2026. In the public filing, the freight carrier stated that the collective resignations were directly caused by the court's withdrawal of their management powers.

Sanation administrator assumes operational control
The judicial withdrawal of ordinary management rights established an immediate shift in how the railway freight operator is directed. Following the court's decree, sanation administrator Paweł Głodek assumed direct responsibility for the current day-to-day management of the enterprise. The transfer of managerial functions places routine operational governance under the authority of the court-appointed sanation administration rather than corporate directors. Paweł Głodek is tasked with directing ongoing business activities and managing the restructuring estate during the legal proceedings. This shift terminates the previous operational structure where company executives handled standard commercial affairs alongside restructuring supervisors.

Supervisory board delegates interim chief executive
To maintain corporate leadership following the departure of the executive board, the PKP Cargo supervisory board convened on Thursday, 1 October 2026, to enact transitional governance measures. The supervisory body resolved to delegate one of its active members, Monika Starecka, to temporarily perform the duties of president of the management board. Monika Starecka will serve as acting chief executive officer for a defined period starting on 2 October 2026 and running through 31 December 2026. Her delegation ensures executive representation at the head of the company through the end of the year while sanation administrator Paweł Głodek directs operational affairs. The freight carrier communicated these transitional appointments through its official market disclosures as the restructuring process advances.
